ESPN Classic: Classic Matchups in Real-Time

Did y’all enjoy that LSU/Apppalachian State game?  I heard it was good to see the Tigers back in action.  I wouldn’t know, though, because even though I have 1200 channels of programming, I don’t have ESPN Classic.  In fact, no one in the Myrtle Beach area does.  Not that we wanted to see the defending national champion play its season opener against a team that shocked another top-ranked team in its own season opener last year.  Meanwhile, the other ESPN channels (which I do receive) were airing the following all-important games:

  • Bowling Green at Pittsburgh
  • East Carolina vs. Virginia Tech
  • Syracuse at Northwestern

High five, ESPN!  And way to geaux, Tigers.

That really blows. Why don’t you get it?

I hate the stunt the local ABC here pulls sometimes by starting what’s supposed to be a live game on tape delay. For instance, Utah just upset Michigan. I see on ESPN that it’s close and in the fourth, a two-point game or so. I switch over to ABC, which has another game going but announces “bonus coverage” of Mich-Utah and says the score is “25-10.” Sigh.

I don’t know why we don’t get it. We had it when we lived in Atlanta and Chattanooga, but then again we had Comcast then. Now it’s Time Warner Cable, which is usually vastly superior to Comcast, but I’m unwell about this particular situation.

In any event, I realized that the fact that they moved up the game is the reason it was on ESPN Classic; had it been played in the early evening as scheduled, it would’ve been on ESPN. Fucking Gustav!

For online, real-time coverage, I love ESPN’s site, which updates all on its own and has a lovely little field graphic showing me field position and possession: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/scoreboard?confId=8

I’m so glad football returned in time to save me from internal combustion over politics.

Is ESPN classic the channel that continually shows OLD games?? Plez 2 explain this logic, this greatly puzzles The Devil!

Devil, YES! I never even cared about that channel when I DID have it b/c it was always just old games. Of course as soon as they show something super exciting and CURRENT, though, I don’t have it.

It’s like rain on my wedding day.
