I Gotta Give Them Props

Ugh, how much would it suck to work on the McCain campaign?  As if early to bed, early to rise, and early bird special weren’t bad enough, his poor workers are now being forced to distribute wacky props to journalists.

A couple of weeks ago, the McCain camp handed out “Junior Varsity” press credentials to reporters covering his campaign so they wouldn’t feel bad about being stuck in the U.S. while their counterparts were covering Barackapalooza’s European leg.  Then on Monday, the poor souls had to pass out tire pressure gauges labeled “Obama’s Energy Plan” to journalists on the campaign plane.  This was apparently McCain’s reaction to Obama’s (correct) assertion that one of many things we can and should do to conserve energy is to inflate our tires properly.  Never mind that it would save up to 292,000,000 barrels of oil a year and has also been recommended by McCain’s muscle, the Governator.  Nah, that’s just crazy talk, and what better way to distract Americans from the fact that they are eating rust and commodity cheese for breakfast than to hand out silly toys?

Can’t you just imagine being tasked with this assignment?

You:  Hey, uh, Mr. Reporter, here’s your J.V. press pass and your “Obama Sux” tire pressure gauge.

Reporter: Okay, thanks.  Should I wear this pass?  Because it says I’m a second string reporter.

You:  Well, it’s supposed to be a joke.

Reporter: Um, okay.  And what about this pressure gauge?  I could always use an extra one, but what does John want me to do with this?  Should I use it?  Should I not use it?  I’m a little unclear on his energy policy.

You: Yeah, I don’t know.  Whatever.  Just sign here to indicate that you received them both.

Horrifying!  And while we’re at it, John, if, as I suspect, this person:

is working overtime behind the scenes on your campaign, you might want chiggity check yourself before you wreck yourself.

The second pic just leaves me at a loss for words, and not in a good way.

As for MrCrankyPants, typical RNC gimmick and the same mindset of handling serious issues in a flippant, half-ass manner. I’m suprised it’s not more pervasive in his campaign tactics. His staffers should see the light and come to the better side.

Yes Dotty Z, that combo is a Wes Craven moment if ever there was one!
